NOTES: Panama seems like it is in South America, but it’s part of North America. The Isthmus of Panama is the only place where the two continents connect. The Panama Canal is an artificial 82 km (51 mi) waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It was one most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken and greatly reduces the trip between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
